There is something in the air, I can’t really explain it but there is a shift that is happening. It is almost like an awakening that is occuring in people’s spirit. Let me stop and say that I do not consider myself one of “woo-woo people” I am very pragmatic and grounded but there is definitely something in the air. I have spent the last couple of years doing a ton of corporate training and after each talk I have people come to me with a sense of sadness and they share their frustration with their job and wanted to created a new business or change their life but they don’t know how.
What is clear to me is that people are finally getting it. You may be asking “Getting what?” I believe that people are finally getting that they are the designer of their lives and that they have the power to create the life that they absolutely love and deserve.
If this is true and it is, then the question becomes why aren’t more people doing it? The number one reason is FEAR. People are afraid that in order to pursue the life that they love that they will lose something. That something could be relationships, their savings, their identity, their friends and the list goes on and on. The truth is by not pursuing your desired life you are actually losing something more important…your soul, your spirit, your joy, your purpose.
Reinvention is not for the faint of heart and it requires COURAGE and FAITH.
Here are a couple of steps to get you started in the right direction to reinventing the life that you always wanted:
1. Determine where you are. In order to create the life you really want you must determine where you are. If you were to plan a vacation and you were to drive to San Diego, your first step would be to find your starting point. There is no way you could get to your destination without knowing where you are. Exercise: Examine each area of your life (i.e. Relationships, Health/Wellness, Career/Business, Finances, Spirituality, Emotional Wellness) and on a scale from 1 to 5 (5 being “I love my X” and 1 being “My life sucks”). This will give you a quick snapshot of the areas you need to focus on
2. Decide what you want. You really have the power to create your juicy, delicious, amazing life. It starts with at decision. If you could have your life like you want it, what would it look like? What would you being doing as a career? Would you have a business and if so, what kind? What would your body look like? What would your relationships look like? What kind of house would you live in? Would you live in the same area or a new demographic location? Where would you go on vacation? What would you do for fun? Give yourself permission to dream big.
3. Silence your “Inner Advisory Board“. We all have our inner critics that speaks to us. Their job is simply to keep us safe. If you are not effective in convincing them that this new transition is going to be great than you will experience self-sabotage. How do you know that your “Inner Advisors are speaking? You typically will hear phrases like “Are you kidding?” “You too old” “No one is going to pay for your product or services” “You don’t have enough money” “Who do you think you are?”. There is an entire process to getting their agreement and believe me when I say it is not as difficult as you may believe.
4. Create the Roadmap. Now that you know where you are and what you want. The next step is to begin creating a roadmap to creating the life that you love. This is my favorite part of the process. Many people find this part very difficult because they might feel like they don’t have the expertise, knowledge or skillset to get started. Understand one important law in the universe and that is simply “That which you are seeking is seeking you.” If you have a vision, you also have inside of you everything that you need to bring it to reality. It may require that you may need to get a “Guide (aka Business/Life Coach) to support you on the journey and help you to avoid obstacles, pitfalls and traps.
5. Commit to your new life. This is the most important part next to deciding that you will chart your on course. It is your commitment. Once you decide there are going to be things that show up to test your commitment, this is normal and should be expected. It is the universe way of seeing how serious you are about your decision. Stay strong, courageous and keep the faith. This reinvention journey is not for the faint of heart but the rewards are immeasurable.
What is stopping you from creating the life that you really want? Please feel free to share your answers in the comment section.

You are correct, as a VA I’ve NOT found the satisfaction I was looking for in creating my own business. In fact what I’ve found is more frustration than anything else. Its not that Im not organized and clear what Im finding is people are wishy-washy and unclear about their business and what they need to do to grow and thrive.
With that said I’ve pressed the reset button and am now focusing on a different industry that I feel passionate about. Where there are several streams of business that can be tapped into.
Watch out 2016 – – I’m coming for you!

Lu – There are a ton of people who want to be an entrepreneur but they are “unclear” with what is required. I totally get what you are saying about “wishy-washy”. Clarity is the KEY to becoming successful and it starts by asking yourself the question “What do I really want?”
